Women’s self-worth does not appear or disappear out of nowhere. It is cultivated.

Cultivated through movements such as IWD, which bring to light topics and conversations we need to address both introspectively and alongside others; cultivated through the pursuit of knowledge; cultivated through the changes you make in yourself.

How do we fit in?

First, you must establish your own sense of self because once you know who you are, you’ll know what you want and once that happens, the world is yours to pursue.

Through this journey of self-discovery, we will, hopefully, be filled with accurate information that helps us grow. Then, once we’ve discovered all that there’s, our duty is to share with our daughters, mothers, friends alike.

The more women are aware of their power and potential, the more they shall thrive to attain them.

This year’s information being circulated via the IWD website is #BreakTheBias.

This hashtag highlights the intricacies of stereotypes, inequality, and gender discrimination to paint a more nuanced picture for women.

By actively informing ourselves and changing our habits bit by bit, we will be able to have a better world where women are free to be and choose their own paths.

Though this process is a long and convoluted one, it can only begin when you start.
